An honor society is an organization which offers awards to peers who have excelled. Honor societies do not only award excellence in academics but also in other fields. A good example is the Order of the Arrow which awards boys scouts who have excelled. You must pass in an exam or relevant area in order to become an honor society member. Some honor societies only enroll peers who have done certain programs. So as to become an honor society member, you are supposed to have a high level of discipline. Honor societies can be differentiated by the use of medallions and academic regalia among others.
